Today we shall taste away from the maddening crowds climbing over Sir Lowry's Pass to the beautiful valley of Elgin - South Africa's apple capital.  Again, we have dozens of fine estates to visit. Meet Sean, the dynamic winemaker of South Hill who will enthuse you with his Sauvignon Blanc. A gourmet treat awaits you at the farm's award winning restaurant - The Venue - where Chef Gordon Manuel rules.

More private estates beckon, perhaps Highland Road & Almenkerk. Finally, a brandy tasting and cellar tour at Oude Molen Distillery before returning to Cape Town.

TULBAGH VALLEY WINE TOUR

Steeped in history you will experience the real Cape country atmosphere. Again bypassing Paarl we shall visit Wellington sampling wine and olives then onto Tulbagh. The drive is spectacular. Tulbagh emulates Franshhoek without the bustle. A dozen excellent wine farms summon us, plus, there is chocolate, cheese, olives and a dried fruit farm to tempt us. Perambulate down Church Street. Breathe in the mountain air while admiring the Cape Dutch architecture. A visit to the quaint Church museum is a must.
